Mirror Image K9: Socialization and Training

Arguably, the most vital role in caring for a dog or puppy means setting them up for success. We strongly believe in Mirror Image K9's Relationship and Psychology Based Training. Understanding how to fulfill, coexist, and love your dog is not always an easy task. In our experience, many have to unlearn things we are commonly taught about dogs, as the scientific community is constantly evolving in understanding the nature of domesticated canines in modern day settings.

The staff and team at Mirror Image K9 have helped us master puppy socialization, providing our fosters with basic training and socialization knowledge, and are always willing to take on a TDNR pup to help set them up for success!

We encourage everyone who has a dog in their life to follow their teachings, which can be found on their website, linked below, as well as their socials (Instagram: @mirrork9image Podcast/Youtube: Think Like a Dog Podcast).

The Basics: Medical Care and Nutrition

Once placed in a foster home, immediately after intake, the rehabilitation process begins. Medical care and nutrition plans are quickly tailored to each pup.

Upon intake, if applicable, each pup is given or sent home with dewormer and flea/tick medication. We do a brief overview, cleaning wounds and checking hydration levels before sending home with their foster. Depending on the state of the pup, a course for vet care is established. Sometimes puppies need urgent care and are taken straight to the ER, our favorite is VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group), and some can wait to see our primary care provider in the following days. From animal attacks, septic shock, burns from acid, broken limbs, anorexia, hypothermia, critical anemia needing transfusions, Parvovirus, pyoderma, mange, and severe parasitic infections, we have seen and treated a lot!

With the generous supply of fresh foods and kibble from South East Pets, we are able to feed our puppies some of the best nutrition available. Donations off our Amazon wishlist also help feed our pups! When prescription diets or specific diets are needed, we cover the costs so our fosters are not paying out of pocket for any food.
